Each year, thousands of content professionals from all corners of the media, entertainment and technology ecosystem go to NAB Show. It’s designed for those striving to drive listeners and engage viewers in larger numbers for greater reach. And it’s imagined for those seeking to create uncommon audio and visual experiences. We had a great time at NAB 2022 and enjoyed checking out a lot of new kit and developments from some of the biggest names in the industry. Please enjoy our small gallery below and check back in the coming days for our full rundown from the event.
Traditionally Live Event production has used 2/3” sensor cameras, which work with a huge range of zoom lenses with the reach and speed that you need for a sporting event or fast moving live show. More recently we’re seeing a mix of different camera types; traditional 2/3”, PTZ and mini cameras, and large format sensor cameras, with S35 or full frame sensors. What links them all together is the need to get signals back from widely dispersed cameras around a venue, and a common control system to be able to ‘shade’ or ‘rack’ the cameras. In this webinar we will explore the different looks you will get from different types of camera, matching your cameras, and the issues involved in a mixed economy of camera types. We’ll be referring to the PXW-FX9 with latest RCP control software, the BRC-X1000 PTZ camera, and the HXC-FB80 2/3” camera system. Be part of the debate… We are running a 45 minute session starting at 11:00. This webinar is fully interactive so there will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
Join Alister Chapman on this live streaming event as he outline’s the main features of the Venice 2 and what makes it different from the original Venice camera. With many face to face events continuing to be postponed or cancelled it has been difficult for many to actually get to see a Venice 2 camera “in person”. And while this live stream isn’t the same as seeing the camera for yourself, we will have a VENICE 2 in the studio hooked up to the live feed so that participants can ask Alister to press the buttons or try things out on their behalf. Topics covered include:What are the key differences between the original Venice camera and Venice 2? Do I really need an 8.6K sensor and what can that do for me? Why choose Venice 2 over the competition? How do you use the 2 base ISO’s and is there anything you need to know about noise levels or exposure at the high base ISO? How easy is it to work with the X-OCN files and the AXS media?Be part of the debate… We are running a 90 minute session starting at 11:00. Join Cinematographer Alister Chapman as he explores the often confusing world of gamma curves in this interactive webinar. We have all heard the term gamma but what does it really mean? How does it affect what we actually capture and how does gamma effect the way an image looks on a screen? As more and more TV’s start to support more than one gamma it’s going to become important to understand which gamma you need to use for your content capture, archive and delivery? To find out register for our FREE webinar now. We are running a 90 minute session starting at 11:00. This will be an interactive webinar and questions will be welcome at anytime. Alister will look at what a gamma curve is, why we need them and what they do. Looking at different capture gammas such as Rec-709, Hyper-gamma and S-log Alister will look at the differences between each, trying to get past the techno-babble so that you will understand which to use for different applications and how they effect the picture information you are recording. What is “the knee” what is a shoulder, toe and roll-off and why might we need them? Which gammas have them and which do not? Why are some gammas better exposed brightly while others work better exposed a bit darker? What happens if we record without using a gamma curve as happens when shooting linear raw? All these questions will be answered in the first half. In the second half Alister will look at how different display gammas effect the way images look on a TV or monitor. As HDR becomes common place it is going to become very important to understand the differences between Rec-709, S-log ST2084 and HLG (Hybrid log gamma). How do you convert from one gamma to another in post production and how do different gamma curves behave in post production? As modern and future TV’s start to support more than one gamma it’s going to become important to understand which gamma you need to use for your content archive and delivery. Should you continue to use Rec-709 for your programme masters or should you consider other options such as HLG, ST2084 or perhaps even S-Log3?
