Welcome to our NAB Special Part II

This week we have not one, but three new cameras from Blackmagic Design, the next generation 4K PTZ auto-framing camera from Sony, and a new top-echelon LED light from KinoFlo that is built for the elements.

Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K, PYXIS 6K cameras

Blackmagic Design took over NAB with their new flagship URSA Cine 12K cinema camera, sporting a new 12k full-frame sensor capable of some exceptional resolutions and frame rates of up to 80 frps in 12K open gate, and 240fps in 8K wide screen. Optimised for high-end cinematography, the URSA Cine 12K comes with a brand new EVF and uses new high-speed memory modules and is available with PL and EF mounts. Towards the end of the year we can also expect a 17K version with a new 65mm large format sensor, LPL and Hasselblad lens mounts for IMAX ready cinematography. Those waiting on a proper box style cinema camera from Blackmagic Design got their wish as the company announced the new PYXIS 6K - a highly configurable 6K cinema camera optimised for portability and flexibility when it comes to rigging. Available in EF, L and PL mounts, we expect the PYXIS 6K to be quite popular among cinematographers looking to give their documentaries and corporate productions a bit more cinematic flare. Sony BRC-AM7 4K Auto-framing PTZ camera

Sony unveiled their new BRC-AM7, next generation 4K PTZ camera utilising the power of AI. The new robotic camera can deliver premium quality 4K footage as well as seamless integration into the Sony system camera world. The 1-inch sensor produces crystal clear 4K/60 video, while the 20x optical zoom covers all angles from a wide shot to a pleasing closeup. The BRC-AM7 also comes with support for Slog3 and S-Cinetone making it easy for editors to intercut footage with other Sony cameras such as the FX6, FR7 and many others. Thanks to its advanced AI analytics, the AM7, can also accurately track subjects with smooth, natural-looking framing.
