This week we have new and affordable cine zooms for Super 35 cameras from Laowa/Venus Optics, a new and updated DeckLink Pro card from Blackmagic Design, and a new firmware update for the Sound Devices 8-Series mixers/recorders.


OOOM Series Super 35 Cine Zooms from Laowa

Laowa adds a couple of new additions to their OOOM Cine Zoom series, the wide-angle 14-60mm T2.9 and 20-85mm T4 offer parfocal design and Super35+ sensor coverage with minimal focus breathing. The affordable due will be available in both Micro Four Thirds as well as ARRI PL mount making them ideal for a wide range of cameras be it the URSA Mini Pro, AMIRA, or any full-frame camera with a Super35 sensor crop option. The lenses have a 77mm filter thread and a close focus distance of just 56cm, while the optical design ensures low-distortion, and excellent contrast and colour. The focus travel is plentiful at 280 degrees, while the Dual Scale design makes it the on-set experience easier.


Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2 capture/playback card

Blackmagic Design have released a new and updated DeckLink 8K Pro G2 card, which includes 4x bi-directional 12G-SDI plus HDMI 2.1 connections, which is new for this version. This compatibility ensures support for all SD, HD, Ultra HD, 4K and 8K standards, up to 4K/120fps and 8K/60p DCI. Designed as the go-to professional capture and playback card for high-end 8K HDR workflows, the new card supports 10 and 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 with full Rec. 2020 color.

Sound Devices firmware update v10.01

Sound Devices have released a new firmware update for their popular 8-Series mixers. Firmware update v10.01 is now available to download with major new features such as the ability to record 32-bit float ISOs for full dynamic range recording. Other new features also include the ability to rename Record Folders, support for the new SD-Remote Routing Matrix and more.
