This week we are featuring the new ALEXA 35 SUP 1.2 update bringing support for the CCM-1 Camera Control Monitor and a host of exciting new features, the latest firmware update v4.0 for the Sony FX6, as well as the newly announced Laowa 24mm T8 2x Macro Pro2be lens.
ARRI has just released a new firmware update for the ALEXA 35 bringing some exciting new features. The latest SUP 1.2 update adds support for the new ARRI CCM-1 Camera Control Monitor, which is now shipping, and also enables touchscreen menu functionality on the MVF-2 viewfinder when used with the ALEXA 35 allowing you to quickly go through and change camera settings. This is a real game changer in my opinion, as it brings a more intuitive and faster user experience further bridging the gap between using the CCM-1 or the viewfinder. In the next update, ARRI will also enable simultaneous use of both the CCM-1 and the MVF-2. It is also worth mentioning that the touchscreen functionality on the MVF-2 will also be coming to the ALEXA Mini LF in a future update. SUP 1.2 also brings other new features such as Extended Erase Media menu warnings, a better Audio Gain user interface, support for WPA-3 client mode and more overall stability improvements.
And speaking of firmware updates, Sony has also released the highly-anticipated firmware update v4.0 for the Sony FX6 camera. The latest firmware update brings support for 2.0x and 1.33x de-squeeze to properly display anamorphic lenses in the camera monitor. In addition, the FX6 also gets extended autofocus support for more frame rates while shooting in Slow & Quick Motion. Other new features include the ability to record in S-Log3 with exposure settings by adjusting the ISO sensitivity and also record at the same base ISO and Cine EI, which automatically adjusts the base ISO with changes in the Exposure Index value.

Venus Optics has unveiled their 2nd generation Laowa 24mm T8 2X Macro Pro2be lens, which now comes in three different designs giving cinematographers even more ways to capture some unique macro perspectives. The new probe lens comes with better weather sealing and a faster max aperture compared to the predecessor. In addition, the new Laowa probe lens is available in a conventional tubular design, a periscope version, and a new 35-degree tilted design for more versatility.
