This week we are featuring the newly announced Angenieux EZ-3 FF/S35 cine zoom, the Bright Tangerine Misfit Kick Mk II matte box, and our upcoming IBC 2023 special live stream with Alister Chapman.
Angenieux has expanded their popular EZ range adding a third cine zoom called the EZ-3. The latest addition to the EZ range joins the current EZ-1 and EZ-2 zoom lenses and gives cinematographers longer coverage to compose close-ups and tighter shots. Just like the other two lenses in the range, the EZ-3 offers both Super 35 and Full-Frame sensor coverage with 45-165mm and 68-250mm focal lengths respectively. This made possible thanks to the Interchangeable Rear Optics module, which can be swapped easily even on set without any specialty tools. As you'd expect from an Angenieux lens, the EZ-3 features a solid metal design and also thermal compensation to prevent focus breathing in extreme weather conditions. The lens will ship with PL mount and is also offered with optional lens mounts such as Sony E and Canon RF.
Bright Tangerine has also dropped the 2nd generation Misfit Kick matte box now featuring design improvements suggested by cinematographers using the kit. The Misfit Kick Mk II features a modular design starting off with the Misfit Core and allowing you do build-up your kit with either a 2 or 3 stage filter setup. Improvements include a new torsion plate, which absorbs vibrations to keep the carbon fibre top flag steady alongside a more streamlined top flag mounting mechanism with two thumbscrews and a kit lever for adjusting the flag up and down. The filter trays have also been redesigned now with wider handles for easier grip when wearing gloves. The Frame Safe clamp adapters on the back now have new thumbscrews, which ensure a snug and secure fit, while the quick-reveal rail system has received some internal adjustments for improving the fitment of filter trays when swapping filters.
