The Project

In this interview we cover his early career working with award-winning cinematographers on Hollywood features, his selection for the 2016 BAFTA Guru Scheme, his latest short Midnight and his first award winning feature STALLED. This award winning feature STALLED sold out Frightfest 3 times, had a theatrical release in America and has been released internationally on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD. Veteran critic Kim Newman described it as "a worthy successor to SHAUN OF THE DEAD". STALLED won several awards including the Melies D'Argent Award for Best Film at the Lund International Film Festival 2013.This British zombie comedy film directed by Christian James stars Dan Palmer, who also wrote the screenplay, as a man confined to a bathroom stall after zombies attack. Produced by Richard Kerrigan the film's cast also includes Mark Holden and Antonia Bernath.

The Cinematographer

Sashi Kissoon Sashi Kissoon is a London based Director of Photography, working internationally in award winning drama, music videos and advertising. He is driven to create compelling visuals that enhance and underscore story. Sashi believes that the way a subject is framed is just as important as how they are lit. Sashi was one of the few cinematographers selected for the 2016 BAFTA Guru Scheme. He has shot commercials for Saatchi & Saatchi, Red Bee Media, Karmarama and Adam & Eve DDB, for clients such as John Lewis, BMW, Google, British Gas, BT and Dunhill. He has also shot drama for Netflix, ITV and BBC. Sashi’s first, award winning, feature, STALLED, sold out Frightfest 3 times, had a theatrical release in America and has been released internationally on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD. Veteran critic Kim Newman described it as "a worthy successor to SHAUN OF THE DEAD". STALLED won several awards including  Melies D'Argent Award for Best Film at the Lund International Film Festival 2013. He has shot award winning short films, working with actors such as Omid Djalili, Michael Smiley, Josie Lawrence, Phill Jupitus and Stephen McGann. In a past life he worked as a camera assistant for Oscar, Bafta and Emmy award-winning DOPs such as Anthony Dod Mantle and Ben Smithard on Hollywood Features such as NEVER LET ME GO, IN THE HEART OF THE SEA and VAMPIRE ACADEMY and British Films such as BELLE and ALAN PARTRIDGE: ALPHA PAPA. This experience has given him a detailed insight into high-end productions that continues to prove valuable to him now. Sashi has developed his skillset to be able to produce beautiful images no matter the budget or time frame. Whether it be a simple piece to camera for Shell, a big budget music video for Lion Babe or a commercial for John Lewis, he always ensures through camera choice, lighting and framing that his work evokes and enhances the underlying story.
