At BVE 2016 we had a chance to stop by the Panasonic booth and see the first trade showing of the new Varicam LT 4K lightweight camera as well as the brand new Litepanels Astra 1x1 Bi-Color Soft. The Panasonic Varicam LT is a one-piece camera - and a departure from the modular design of its predecessor Varicam 35, however it does share the same 4K Super 35 sensor from the Varicam 35 in addition to sharing a lot of the features with its bigger brother. 02_VaricamLT_SlantPL Even though the two cameras share the same 4K Super 35 MOS sensor and the dual-native ISO of 800/5000 allowing the cameras to produce relatively noise-free images in low-light situations the main differences are in the recording options and form factor. The new Varicam LT is capable of recording 4K up to 60p as well as 240fps super slow-motion in Full HD by cropping into the sensor. The Varicam LT comes with a native Canon EF mount, which users can replace with a PL mount (sold separately). To learn more about the Varicam LT check out our interview with Rob from Panasonic below. Litepanels were also at BVE and we had a chance to check out their latest 1x1 Astra LED light - the Astra 1x1 Bi-Color Soft. The new LED fixture gives users the benefit of a much smoother and softer light for interviews, ENG, Drama and a variety of other applications.
