Welcome to the latest issue of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

2019 was a big year for new product releases, from highly anticipated cameras to revolutionary LED lights, and in this episode we’re wrapping up 2019 with our Top 5 Product Releases for the Year!

In chronological order, we start off with the ALEXA MINI LF announced in the beginning of the year. ARRI expanded their large format camera family with the ALEXA MINI LF, sporting a similar body design to the ALEXA MINI, but with new features such as a Netflix compliant 4.5K ARRIRAW, a large format sensor, a new and improved viewfinder and an LPL mount to accommodate the new full-frame Signature Primes.

Litepanels also expanded their excellent GEMINI soft LED panel range with the introduction of the Gemini 1x1, which offers the same high quality full RGB light control with warm white from the larger Gemini 2x1, but in a more compact form factor. Packed with tones of gels and effects, the Gemini 1x1 is built to last and also offers a huge range of DMX, wi-fi and Bluetooth remote control options.

When it comes to high end cinematography lenses, a few brands are synonymous with Hollywood quality as are Zeiss. The legendary lens maker announced announced the Zeiss Radiance Primes in 2019. Based on the optics of the already industry standard Zeiss Supreme large format primes, the Radiance Primes feature a new coating giving cinematographers controllable and consistent flares for a classic look.

The Sony FX9 was one of the biggest announcements of the year, with Sony unleashing a new 6K full-frame sensor in a new camera design carrying the DNA of the extremely successful Sony FS7. Offering a stellar combination of stunning 4K and fast hybrid autofocus ported over form the Alpha 7 series stills cameras, the Sony FX9 opens a new chapter for Sony and is set to once again turn the mid-tier range camera market on its head by setting a new standard in class.

And last but not least, the ARRI Orbiter was also a very significant announcement for cinematographers during the past year. Made for big productions, the Orbiter is highly tunable and features a state of the art light engine, giving cinematographers almost endless options to shape and control the light. And with a detachable control interface, built-in wireless and weatherproof housing, the Orbiter is ready for any set.
