The Sigma Cine 40mm FF High Speed Prime lens, announced at IBC 2018 along with the 28mm and 105mm is now available to purchase just in time for pre-testing at the end of the year. The final one of the trio the 28mm should be available in early 2019. The Cine 40mm is part of a 10 lens Full-Frame High Speed Prime set from Sigma which covers 14mm to 135mm and T1.5 to T2. Its inclusion is particularly important to the set for 2 reasons. Over the years this focal length has become an essential part of a typical cine prime set. Also it’s the first to be developed for cinema use rather than being a re-housed still photography lens made into a cine lens.
As with the other lenses in the set the 40mm comes in PL, EF and E mounts and is compatible with full-frame image sensors being optimized for ultra-high-resolution 6K-8K shooting. It has a 9 blade aperture for natural and pleasing bokeh, 95mm fronts and the already familiar industry grade build quality. The FF High-Speed Primes also feature a clickless iris with linear markings, dampeners on each gear ring for silent operation, industry-standard 0.8 module gear pitch, and engraved markings for durability. Another nice touch is the fully luminescent markings which are a god send to camera operators when working in poorly lit situations. All in all the Sigma Cine 40mm T1.5 is a great addition to the set which is already getting great reviews from many DP’s and cinematographers. - To see this great lens in action, give us a call to arrange a demo on 0208 977 1222.
