Fujifilm have just launched a couple of brand new cinema lenses part of their new MK Series. The new lenses include an MK 18-55mm T2.9 and a 50-135mm T2.9 specifically designed for E-mount cameras such as the Sony FS7 II, FS7, and PXW-FS5 just to name a few. The new cinema lenses feature advanced optical performance, ultra-compact and lightweight design, as well as superb cost performance. Fujinon 50-135mm The new MK Series range is designed to cover Super 35/APS-C sensors with the ‘emerging’ cinematographer in mind, and since it is (almost) exclusively made for the E-mount system - Sony FS7/FS7 II shooters especially can benefit from its versatility when shooting a live event, online content, documentary, corporate video, weddings and low budget narrative work. It is worth to mention that Fujifilm are looking to be developing an X mount version for use with their 4K mirrorless cameras sometime by end of the year. Fujinon 50-135mm The best part about the new MK lenses are the fact they are quite affordable considering their build quality, parfocal nature and Fujinon high quality 4K optics. Pricing in the UK for the 18-55mm T2.9 has been announced at £3,100 + VAT. This lens is scheduled to ship in March, while the other MK Series lens - the 50-135mm T2.9 is to dispatch sometime this summer at (quite possibly, but not confirmed) similarly affordable price. Here is some sample footage shot on the MK 18-55mm T2.9 by Philip Bloom. And some behind the scenes:
“The rapid growth in popularity of content produced by emerging cinematographers has expanded the use of cinema and digital photographic cameras,” said Tom Fletcher, Director of Sales, Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM.
Fujinon 18-55 Designed to maintain consistent colour temperature with all FUJINON cinema lenses, the new Fujinon MK series are made to help ease the "pain of colour correction" by producing lovely images with true to life colours and vividness. The new MK series carry the popular Fujinon DNA and especially advanced edge-to-edge optical performance and low distortion, while boasting compact and lightweight design at only 980 grams. The lenses have a 85mm front and lengths of 206mm. Both lenses feature a macro function and back focus adjustment, features that are usually found on much more expensive lenses. In addition to the above listed benefits, which are probably enough to classify them as "Mini" Cabrios - the MK Series lenses are completely manual with a manual Iris, feature a long 200 degree focus rotation, 32-pitch zoom, minimal focus breathing, and accurate zoom tracking, To pre-order or discuss your production requirements, get in touch with us at 0208 977 1222.
