A compact PTZ camera that follows your subject and frames the shot on its own
The Sony SRG-AS10 is a PTZ camera built for teams that need good-looking video without a dedicated camera operator. Sony’s AI-based Auto Framing finds the person on camera, follows them and keeps the composition balanced. The image quality is 4K at 60 frames per second, and a 10x optical zoom covers rooms from small meeting spaces to larger halls. It is aimed at lecture rooms, corporate studios, houses of worship, event spaces and sports venues, wherever a person-operated camera isn’t practical.
The camera’s analytics detect a person’s skeleton and head position, which lets it pick out the main subject even when others are in the shot. It then adjusts pan, tilt and zoom continuously to keep the framing natural. Several tools let you shape how it behaves:
The SRG-AS10 has a dedicated Ball Sports (Basketball) Mode. It tracks the ball and the players together, then frames an overview of the action so viewers can follow the game. Sony notes that this mode is designed only for indoor five-on-five basketball. The camera must be installed at the centre of the court along the sideline, an official ball is required, and the mode can’t run alongside Person Framing.
A 4K STARVIS image sensor produces clean, low-noise images in dim rooms. Recording at 4K 60p gives smooth motion for both natural movement and fast action. The sensor also oversamples 4K to produce detailed Full HD output for streaming and archiving. That sharpness helps with small details such as text on presentation slides, and with facial expressions.
You get 10x optical zoom in 4K. Tele Convert Mode extends the range to 20x in Full HD for tighter framing from farther away.
Sony has refined the motor design for smoother pan and tilt. Speeds are adjustable, and movement starts and stops without abrupt jerks, which keeps the footage polished during lectures, stage events and sports.
The SRG-AS10 offers both traditional video outputs and network streaming:
The camera supports VISCA over IP for integration with external control systems, and works with the optional Sony RM-IP500 remote controller for hands-on operation. For quick setups, a web app lets you control it from a browser on a PC or tablet. An IR remote commander is included for simple wireless PTZ control.
A built-in tally lamp works like the ones on studio cameras. It can show red for On Air or green when PTZ Auto Framing is active, so presenters know when they’re being captured.
The compact, lightweight body goes on a tripod or is mounted from the ceiling, with image flip for inverted installation. That makes it easy to place in spots a camera operator can’t reach, such as high in a lecture hall or at the side of a sports court. Two colour options, white and black, help it blend into different room designs.
