Fujifilm VF-GFXC2 Electronic Viewfinder
Fujifilm has announced the VF-GFXC2, a dedicated electronic viewfinder built specifically for the GFX ETERNA 55 digital filmmaking camera, with release expected by the end of 2026. Rather than adapting an existing EVF, Fujifilm has designed this unit around the ETERNA 55's native 4:3 open gate sensor mode, giving operators a viewfinder that matches the camera's full-frame output rather than a cropped or letterboxed approximation of it.
At the core of the VF-GFXC2 is a native 4:3 aspect ratio OLED panel running at 2048x1536 resolution with 1000 nits of peak brightness and 1.0x magnification, engineered to display the entire open gate frame without cropping. The display also adjusts its characteristics based on brightness settings, helping operators maintain accurate color and tonal judgment whether they're working in a shaded interior or bright exterior.
A large, ergonomically shaped eyecup blocks ambient light for clearer viewing in high-contrast conditions and is built for comfortable extended use across long shooting days. The body itself uses a machined aluminum exterior in a simple cylindrical shape, minimizing part joints for added durability, with function buttons placed for natural, reach-without-looking access, and a diopter adjustment dial tuned for smooth, precise resistance.
For DPs and camera operators working in 4:3 open gate — whether shooting for later reframing, vertical delivery, or full-sensor capture — a viewfinder that natively matches that aspect ratio removes a layer of guesswork from framing and focus confirmation on set.
