The Sony FX5 Right Side Plate is a clean and compact rigging option for Sony shooters. Add accessories via the range of 1/4" screw threads, and quickly detach them and use the Side Plate as an easy Hand Grip. Whatever the shoot calls for, make sure you’re ready – and comfortable.

Rigging Real-Estate

We appreciate that a compact camera can stop being compact quickly when it gets rigged out, which is why we’ve tried to maximise your real-estate for rigging whilst keeping the camera footprint minimal. The Right Side Plate gives you two columns of screw threads, along with cutouts for cable management – all without blocking the FX5’s card slot or button inputs.

Anyone coming to the Sony FX5 from the bestselling FX6 will appreciate the much smaller form factor, and those coming from the equally popular FX3 will feel right at home. We’ve cut the Right Side Plate to match the profile of the FX5’s grip, meaning that you still feel the benefits. The Right Side Plate is comfortable to hold: grip it like a pistol and get ready to shoot.

Angled Anti-Twist

With that said, you might be wondering about the circular 1/4" thread poking out of the top like a boom mic poking into frame. This anti-twist screw thread is great for adding extra accessories such as monitor arms or alternate mounts for the FX5’s EVF. We’ve also got an Adaptor that turns the thread into a QD socket, perfectly level with the one on our Wing Grip or NATO Top Plate on the other side - ideal for a comfortable strap mount.
