Cooke

Cooke's heritage of excellence and innovation spans more than a century. The optical designers at the legendary British lens maker have crafted some of the most sought after and desirable lenses in the world of cinematography since the dawn of sound in motion pictures. However, Cooke's dominance in Hollywood dates back to even the silent era, with some studio mandating all their films be shot on Cooke lenses.

Fast forward a few decades and some of the most iconic Hollywood movies of the past have been captured using Cooke lenses, including Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, Apocalypse Now, and countless others. Innovation has been at the heart of the Leicester-based optics maker ever since its inception in 1893. Throughout the middle of the twentieth century, ground-breaking lens designs such as the Cooke Speed Panchros quickly became a standard, whereas the impressive Varotal Zoom became the first high-quality zoom lens dedicated to motion picture production used by many Oscar winning cinematographers.

Each Cooke lens is handcrafted at the company's factory in Leicester, UK. Employing generations from the same family working alongside one another, Cooke has preserved more than 100 years of tradition, expertise and state-of-the-art technology. Classic methods, precise insights and craftsmanship come together to produce the highly desired Cooke Look. The company is also responsible for some of the latest innovations in the digital capture world such as the i/ Technology.
