Zeiss expands their award-winning Milvus family of prime lenses with three new focal lengths - two ultra-wide 15mm f2.8; a 18mm f2.8, which will surely make lots of landscape and architecture photographers happy and a telephoto 135mm f2.0 for portrait photographers.

The great thing about the Zeiss Milvus range is that they are a fantastic choice not only for serious photography, but also for professional video. The focus ring has a large rotation angle, which is great for video use as it allows for more precise focusing. The focus ring encased in a beautiful and comfortable rubber to ensure a good grip. To set the aperture in a soft, noiseless and infinitely variable way, the lenses with ZF.2 mount feature the de-click function. In that way, professional work in changing lighting conditions is no problem at all.

“Due to their extremely high contrast rendition, the lenses fulfill the most modern video standards, and have uniform colour characteristics,” according to a top Zeiss representative.

The Milvus 15/2.8 offers a super wide-angle perspective with a field of view of 110 degrees allowing for some stunning wide perspectives. The lens has excellent imaging performance – even with an open aperture – thanks to the correction of color errors. Colour fringing and distortion are minimal. The new Milvus lenses benefit from the now legendary ZEISS Distagon lens design with 15 lens elements in 12 groups, including two aspheric lenses, special glass with anomalous partial dispersion, and the floating elements design.

A removable lens shade and the 95-millimeter filter thread also make this lens the ideal companion for special applications with additional slide-in filter holders.

The Milvus 135mm f2.0 telephoto lens is no slouch either - the lens delivers excellent correction of all colour errors and thanks to a wider maximum aperture of f/2.0 the 135mm delivers outstanding and pleasing bokeh. The angular field is 18.7 degrees, with a short minimum object distance of 0.80 meters makes this lens even more versatile. It has an optical design with 11 lens elements in eight groups and, like the ZEISS Milvus 2.8/18, a filter diameter of 77 millimeters.

The new Milvus lenses are set to start shipping in October 2016.
