Reputable gear makers like Vocas, ARRI and Chrosziel have some really useful additional accessories for the FS7 that will make your life on set a whole lot easier.
ARRI expands PCA range with new pro accessories developed for the Sony FS7 and the Varicam 35. In addition to these accessories, ARRI have a new Studio Matte Box – SMB-2 taking the already very popular and highly regarded SMB-1 to the next level.
- Last year at IBC in Amsterdam, Sony announced the large sensor 4K FS7, which proved to be quite the hit for them. We've been taking large numbers of pre-orders from day one, and have delivery quite a few already, but the camera is still not as widely available as Sony and we would like due to the overwhelming demand from owner/operators, rental houses, and production companies eager to get into professional 4K acquisition for a very acceptable price.
- Every year in the beginning of April thousands upon thousands of video professionals and industry folks descend upon the desert oasis and get lost in the lavishness of Las Vegas for the biggest broadcast video trade show in the world – The National Association of Broadcasters Show, or simply NAB Show.
- Sony recently announced their next firmware update for the PXW-FS7 and PXW-X70 cameras. The FS7 gains 4K (4096 x 2160) internal recording in XAVC-I in the form a free update in March 2015 in addition to ProRes HQ/422 at 1920 x 1080p up to 30p internal recording on XQD cards (requires XDCA-FS7 extension unit). The Sony PXW-X70, which at the moment is limited to 1080p, will receive a paid firmware update to allow for 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) in XAVC-L up to 30fps – the firmware update for the PXW-X70 is expected to be available in June 2015.
