This past week Sony had some major announcements regarding upcoming firmware upgrades to their Sony FX9 and VENICE cameras. Firmware update version 2.0 for the Sony FX9 will be available in October and it will include some highly anticipated new features such as 4K DCI full-frame capture and 180fps slow motion recording in Full HD. Other notable additions include 16bit raw output with the XDCA extension unit, Eye AF, 6G-SDI, Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) and custom 3D LUT support.
In addition, Atomos also announced they will support 12bit ProRes RAW recording to the Atomos Shogun 7 with firmware 2.0 for the FX9. The ProRes RAW output will be possible with the FX9 XDCA extension unit, which is a separate purchase.
