DJI Osmo Action, Metabones Speed Booster ULTRA and Tilta Nucleus Nano

Welcome to the latest issue of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

This week we are featuring the Osmo Action Camera from DJI, the new Metabones EF to EOS M Speed Booster ULTRA and Tilta's Nucleus Nano Follow Focus unit for gimbals and mirrorless cameras.

DJI Osmo Action

DJI has been dominating the consumer and prosumer drone marketplace and now they are setting their sights on the action camera world by announcing the DJI Osmo Action – their first 4K action camera set to take on the GoPro Hero 7.

The Osmo Action can record 4K/60p at 100 Mbps and features an advanced electronic image stabilisation to help you get smooth footage in just about any situation. The Osmo Action has a familiar water-proof action camera design; however it features a unique dual screen design that will be perfect for vlogging applications. HDR is supported in 4K/30p and DJI have included a flat picture profile as well as the ability to capture 12 megapixel raw or JPEG still images.

Metabones EF to EOS M Speed Booster ULTRA

Metabones have announced a brand new lens adapter in their Speed Booster ULTRA range. The new Metabones EF to EOS M Speed Booster ULTRA allows users to adapt their Canon EF mount lenses to compact EOS M mirrorless cameras such as the Canon EOS M50, offering a wider field of view and adding an extra stop of light. The new Speed booster will also make the crop in 4K video more manageable and also supports autofocus and electronic image stabilisation. Pricing has been announced at around $480 USD and shipping is expected to commence in the upcoming weeks.

Tilta Nucleus Nano

Tilta have some great news for indie filmmakers and video creators – their highly anticipated Nucleus Nano Follow Focus for gimbals and mirrorless cameras is now shipping. Priced at around 230 US dollars, the Nucleus Nano is compatible with popular handheld gimbals such as the DJI Ronin-S and Tilta Gravity G2x. The Nucleus Nano features a compact lens motor and a handheld controller unit, which can be attached to the side of the gimbal or otherwise used remotely at a maximum range of around 90 meters.
