Welcome to the latest episode of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.
This week we are featuring the Teradek Wave a new 7 inch monitor & recorder with online streaming features, the latest updates to Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects and the announcement of the long-anticipated A7 IV from Sony.
Teradek has introduced a unique 7 inch monitor with built-in 1080p streaming and recording functions. The new Teradek Wave borrows the 1000 nits bright 7-inch display from the SmallHD Cine 7 giving users enough real estate to monitor their stream, while utilizing an HDMI input for a camera source. Perfect for event spaces, B2B conferences and many more applications, the Teradek Wave supports H.264 encoding and allows users to stream in Full HD to popular destinations such as Facebook, Youtube, or Vimeo, while the intuitive operating system and interface make it easy to make adjustments to your stream and save custom presets. The Wave can be powered via either NPF style batteries, which allow for hot-swapping or alternatively via a USB-C power source.
Adobe CC Updates
Adobe has released updates for their video-oriented cornerstone apps Premiere Pro and After Effects, which now offer a more streamlined and smooth editing experience. Multi-frame rendering is now out of beta, and gives After Effects users a significantly faster preview and render times by utilizing the full power of their CPU, while the new Simplify Sequence features in Premiere Pro gives editors a quick way to create a clean copy of their timeline free of gaps, unused tracks or effects making it easier to share, export, or archive projects. Also new in the public Beta version of the latest Premiere Pro, Adobe introduces a new AI-assisted feature called Remix, which can intelligently re-arrange a song to match your video, eliminating the hassle of manually cutting and matching a song to particular frames.
Sony A7 IV
Sony recently announced the long-anticipated successor to the hugely popular A7 III. The new alpha7 IV comes equipped with a brand new 33 megapixel full-frame sensor and a super-fast hybrid autofocus system with Real Time Eye AF for humans, animals and even birds. Video users have access to an impressively robust 4K 10bit 4:2:2 internal recording options up to 4K60p, and the popular S-Cinetone picture profile as featured in the Sony FX6, FX9 and FX3. In addition, video creators can take advantage of the variable angle touch screen and improved menus ported over from the Sony a7s III. Handheld video is improved thanks to the 5-axis in body image stabilization with Active Mode, which crops the image slightly to smooth out your handheld video.
