DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G has native 12G-SDI connections for working with the very latest high frame rate 4K equipment over a single, high speed SDI cable. Older, first generation monitors and projectors have quad link 3G-SDI connections that require 4 SDI cables.

Earlier today, Blackmagic Design released their latest firmware update 2.4, which mostly affects the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K, by adding frame guides (already present on the Cinema camera and Pocket) in addition to an update install camera utility, and the much awaited Dashboard bypass.

Of course, most of us can't afford to rent an ARRI Alexa, but on Age of Ultron, the latest instalment in the Avengers franchise, DP Ben Davis used the tiny, affordable, but yet very powerful Blackmagic Pocket cinema camera and intercut footage with the mighty ARRI Alexa.

Camera Utility 2.0 adds 12bit ProRes 444 up to 60 frames per second in UHD (3840 x 2160p) to the URSA, in addition to 80fps in 1080p. With this latest update, the URSA becomes even more flexible and we can definitely see this camera getting more and more production and post-production friendly as 12bit ProRes 444 is a very popular VFX workflow codec.
