- Hot off the Press: ARRI is expanding the ALEXA family once again and launching a new Alexa SXT (Super Xtended Technology) digital cinema camera featuring in-camera ProRes 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) and ProRes True 4K Cine (4096 x 2637 pixels) recording.
- ARRI have just released SUP 11.0, a free firmware update for the ALEXA XT cameras and ALEXA Classics, primarily allowing for ProRes 3.2K capture internally. Designed for TV productions on a budget, 3.2K capture is perfect for 4K deliverables. Despite the fact that the majority of TV content is still delivered in HD, mastering certain programmes in 4K/UHD will future proof such productions. See the details of SUP 11.0 below.
- As the acclaimed FX series "Sons of Anarchy" nears its finale, director of photography Paul Maibaum, ASC continues to rely on solutions from Anton/Bauer, Litepanels, and OConnor during the production’s stage and location shoots in Southern California. The DP and his crew have trusted the gear to perform throughout all seven seasons of this hit show.
Talented DP Bradford Young, known for lensing incredible films such as Aint Them Bodies Saints, and Pariah, recently shot his latest thriller set in New York in the winter of 1981 entitled “A Most Violent Year”. Directed by J.C. Chandor, for the shoot, they decided to go with the ultimate image quality when it comes to digital cinema and the anamorphic look - ALEXA XT Studio, XT Plus and XT M cameras, as well as the marvellous ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphic lenses.
