The Panasonic VariCam LT is the smaller, more compact and manoeuvrable brother of the legendary Panasonic VariCam 35. It shares its sibling’s powerful core specifications and stunning capabilities, from the 4K 60 fps recording and Super 35 MOS sensor to the renowned 14 stops of dynamic range and 240 fps slow motion image capture.

Compared to the VariCam 35, some lesser-used features are missing from the VariCam LT – but the key difference is size: the original VariCam 35 uses a larger, modular design while the VariCam LT is designed as a small and light all-in-one camera and recorder. This makes it ideal for everything from Steadicam use to jibs and drone shooting.

As a high-end cinema- and broadcast-quality 4K camera, you’d expect a tough die cast magnesium alloy casing that’s ready for life on location or in the studio – and that’s exactly what you receive with the Panasonic VariCam LT.

The VariCam LT’s built-in recording module makes it leaner and lighter, with the camera’s body weighing in at 2.7 kg – almost half the weight of the VariCam 35.

Any camera operator or director of photography that needs a smaller, compact camera that doesn’t sacrifice on features or image quality. From cranes and jibs to drone work and even popular 3-axis handheld stabilisers such as the DJI Ronin, the lean and mean Panasonic VariCam LT has all the punch – but without the paunch.

Alongside its sensitive 4K MOS sensor, V-LOG capability and 14 stops of dynamic range, the camera’s flexible EF mount lets you fit a huge range of compatible EF mount lenses (a user-swappable PL mount adaptor is also available).

The VariCam LT also takes advantage of Panasonic’s renowned dual ISO 800/5000 image capture for cinematic low-light performance that doesn’t lead to an increase in image noise.

The VariCam LT supports image capture in a huge range of formats: 4K (4096 x 2160), UHD (3840 x 2160), ProRes 4444 and 422 HQ in Full HD, plus 240 fps slow motion using the camera’s sensor crop function.

Great connectivity and easy workflow integration are supplied by the VariCam LT’s range of inputs and outputs. You’ll find all the major options you’d expect from a premium cinema camera, including three 3G-SDI ports (2x SDI out and 1x VF SDI), Genlock in, TC in/out, LAN, one XLR 5-pin and two XLR 3-pin, plus lens/grip connector and more.

The Panasonic VariCam LT is compatible with a variety of accessories. The all-important viewfinder and shoulder mount should be your first stop: Panasonic’s AU-VCVF10G Viewfinder delivers authentic colours and crisp monitoring via its OLED display, and it draws power directly from the camera so no external power source is required.
