Sony just announced a version 2 of their highly successful and BVM-X300 4K OLED Master Monitor, which delivers incredible image quality for mission critical picture control. Version 2 of the BVM-X300 will include an HDMI input for easier connection with video cameras and blu-ray players, in addition to a 2nd 3G-SDI 4K Input for easier system integration.
The new BVM-X300 V2 will also come with a new firmware update, which includes new display functionality for HDR production, such as:
• Hybrid Log Gamma HDR EOTF setting supporting the new ITU-R BT.2100 standard • S-Log 3 (Live HDR) supports easier camera control for live productions • New one-touch relative contrast modes (1/2, 1/3 and 1/4), allowing display of HDR images with higher peak luminance • Faster access to the status menu page (Color space, EOTF, User Preset and more)
Since its introduction in 2015, the BVM-X300 has been adopted by major post-production houses for specialising in colour grading and has used for monitoring and quality control on the sets of television shows and films.
“This monitor has become the de facto reference standard for 4K and HDR grading in the post-production suite, and it’s also making its way on set and into mobile production,” said Daniel Dubreuil, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Professional Monitors. “These new updates make the BVM-X300 even more adaptable as demand for production requirements grows increasingly.”
At the moment Sony haven't specified the price for the new version of BVM-X300, however current BVM-X300 owners who want to add the HDMI and second SDI inputs on their existing monitor can contact their Sony Service Centre for further details on how they can perform the upgrade. Unfortunately, the upgrade is chargeable as it requires hardware and software modifications.
