Blackmagic Video Assist Firmware Update 1.2 Brings Avid DNxHD, Extended Zebra and HDMI Record Trigger

Blackmagic Design just released firmware 1.2 for their 5-inch Video Assist monitor/recorder adding some very useful new features such as Avid DNxHD codec support, HDMI start/stop recording trigger, timecode support for the venerable Canon 5D Mark III, extended Zebras and a lot more.

The Blackmagic Video Assist has been very popular with DSLR filmmakers and those who simply are looking for an affordable 2nd AC monitor or an additional monitor for video village so a Director, Producer or client can see what is being shot.

The unit can now record in the popular Avid DNxHD broadcast codec onto affordable SDXC cards. The Video Assist offers additional flexibility for various camera systems by offering both HDMI and mini SDI inputs.
