Blackmagic Design Camera Update 3.1 Available for Download

Last week, Blackmagic Design announced that their much-awaited Ursa Mini 4.6K & Micro Cinema cameras are shipping and now they have released a new firmware update this time adding new functionality for their URSA Mini 4K global shutter camera.

Camera Update 3.1 adds support for the new Micro Cinema camera and the URSA Mini 4.6K. The latest update also adds support for start/stop record trigger via SDI for backup recording to external devices and ProRes 444 to URSA Mini 4K, as well as optimizing camera performance at start up in very cold temperatures.

Camera update 3.1 also adds B4 lens control support for analog zoom servos on URSA Mini 4K PL, and performance improvements and enhancements for Blackmagic URSA Viewfinder. We did check out the B4 mount at last year's IBC Show in Amsterdam and were impressed with the build quality. For those of you who have B4 2/3-inch broadcast zoom lenses, you can use them in Full HD on the PL versions of the Ursa Mini 4K and 4.6K by swapping the mount, which is quite easy to do.
