In a nutshell
Seeing is believing when it comes to the spectacular Sony PMW-F5, and its superb 8.9-effective-megapixel 4K CMOS sensor. It boasts stunning image quality with distinctly rich colour reproduction, higher contrast and improved clarity. The Sony PMW-F5 features built-in recording modes to deliver vibrant 4:2:2 colour, along with outstanding precision from 16-bit linear RAW 2K/4K recording, and 120fps high speed recording without cropping.

In the hands
Sony’s PMW-F5 is exceptionally lightweight, small and modular. The camcorder looks and feels perfectly-weighted and reassuringly robust, providing plenty of options to allow users to establish the right configuration for their needs. Removable features include the viewfinder, handle, RAW recorder and audio input box.

Ideal for
It’s all about freedom and flexibility when it comes to the Sony PMW-F5. That commitment to user-friendliness is borne out by features such as the cache-recording function, and an easy-to-access customisable user menu positioned on top of the setup menu. In addition, a variety of recording formats, internal and external footage options, a choice of viewfinders, PL mount, FZ mount and still lenses provide even further creative flexibility.

There’s also the option of a shoulder rig, and as the chassis is slightly wider than a usual PL-mount, the Sony PMW-F5 is ideal for 3D rigs too.

Features you need to know about
Packing an almighty punch for its small, lightweight size, the Sony PMW-F5 offers some irresistible features such as excellent connectivity, a 4K CMOS sensor, 8.9-megapixel resolution, high sensitivity, and an uncropped high frame rate of up to 120fps.

The Sony PMW-F5 offers a broad choice of recording formats including MPEG-2 HD422, MDPEG4 SStP, XAVC 2K/HD and 16-bit RAW 2L/4K. It also has the option of simultaneous recording on internal high-speed SxS PRO+ memory cards, as well as RAW 2K/4K recording on sleek AXSM memory cards via an optional bolt-on AXS-R5 recorder.
