South African REALITY TV: " The Bachelor "

On The Bachelor, a handsome, successful, and likeable, single man searches for the woman of his dreams. He will be introduced to dozens of women with the hopes that one of them will eventually become his bride. The Bachelor is an original one-hour primetime romance reality television series. The charming and lovable El, hopes to meet a woman who shares his desire for a serious, long-term relationship, and even possibly marriage.

El will get to know these 12 women via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates - in groups of five with some, and individually with others. He will introduce some of the women to his closest friends and family. The Bachelor follows a gradual process of elimination, as he goes from the 12 whom he meets initially, then narrows it to 10 by presenting them with a diamond necklace. He will then decide on 5, then 4, three, two and, ultimately, on the one woman who captures his heart. However, at any point along the way, should a woman decide that she is no longer interested in him, she may reject his invitation to continue dating.

The Bachelor provides an in-depth, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of each participant involved in this unique dating process. At the end of the journey, this gentleman will have had an unforgettable experience, made new friendships and quite possibly found true love. But the big question is: After all of this, if he pops the question, will she accept? The Bachelor's mansion was rigged with 3 DSR PD 150's on Hot-heads. The video feed was then recorded in the garage on 2 DSR 45 DVCam recording decks. The garage was off limits to the 12 woman staying in the house, and was the technical control room for the production. The panning and tilting of the hot-heads were controlled in the garage via a control deck connected to the hot-head. The DSR PD 150's were controlled with RM 90 remotes connected to the cameras with LAN-C cable. Audio was a whole ballgame on is own. 6 radio mics where monitored at all time. to catch any bitchy or saucy conversation. The mics were then patched to the video control desk allowing the director to hear the woman in each different shot, depending on which camera the woman where in front of. Four Digital Betacam ENG camera teams followed the bachelor and women on their dates when away from the mansion.. Each ENG team consisted of one camera, one SQN audio mixer, one Rifle mic and boom and two radio mics. There was also an roaming PD 150 capturing the "behind the scenes" action.
