The SONY HDW-730 S

The HD for SDTV high definition camcorder.

Small lightweight news & documentary camera in the same vein as a Sony DNW 9 WSP or BVW 400 AP in that the camera has a single filter wheel instead of split Colour Correction and ND filters.

The HDW 730 S has an IT CCD block with a smear level at -120dB, for this reason the 730 S is interlaced only, unlike the HDW 750 P which is progressive and interlaced at 25frames per second only.

The HDW 730 S can be switched between 50i (25fps interlaced) and 59,94i (30 fps interlaced). 50i is designed for PAL countries and 59.94 for NTSC countries.

The push towards HD for TV is evident by the fact that the HDW 730 S is less expensive than a Standard definition PAL DVW 790 WSP camcorder.

Option boards for the HDW 730 S are the same as the HDW 750 P.

Down converter board (PAL at 50I, NTSC at 59.94 & SDI).
