The NEW Sony DSR PD 170P

The DSR PD 170 P has arrived..!

Essentially there is not much difference between the PD 150 and the PD 170.

Zoom on the handle with a slow and slower zoom, not much help and not programmable.

Larger handle on the top of the camera, It is more comfortable.

Focus wheel has better grip than the PD 150.

Black and white viewfinder on rear of camera is optically bigger but tends to distort the image more than the 150 viewfinder.

Real value adds:

Comes with a 0.7 wide angle lens which sits in a hood which can be used without the wide angle.

Audio frequency response is better than the 150. (approximately 100 Hz to 12.5 kHz flat PD 150) (Approximately 100 Hz to 16kHz flat PD 170)

The DSR PD 170 can't shoot 25 frames progressive which is a pity as the camera was re-made/upgraded they did not add more functionality to the DSR PD 170 P.

If we were going to shoot in Patagonia we would probably take the PD 150 for the excellent reliability; we hope the PD 170 will be as reliable.
