The Canon CN-E30-300mm T2.95-3.7L L SP is a 10x cine zoom lens with mesmerizing optical quality and a true landmark addition to Canon’s Cinema Lens series for the groundbreaking Cinema EOS System including the Canon C500 and C300 Mark II. The new CN-E 30-300mm Cine Zoom offers support for 4K resolution and compatibility with industry-standard Super 35mm-equivalent cameras from various manufacturers.

The CN-E30-300mm T2.95-3.7L S and SP lenses (also available in EF mount) offer an unparalelled combination of exceptional True 4K (4096x2160 pixels) imaging performance and a wide to telephoto 10x zoom range that, in combination with Canon’s CN-E14.5-60mm T2.6L S/L SP zoom lenses, offers a zoom range of 14.5mm to 300mm within just two top-end Canon cine lenses.

The 4K optical ability, the choice between EF and PL mount versions of the lens and the 10x zoom will appeal to a wide spectrum of demanding professional filmmakers – from broadcast professionals to movie directors, directors of photography to documentary makers, and commercial makers to creative industry professionals – who will appreciate outstanding 4K image quality and wide lens compatibility for their film making needs.

To reduce chromatic aberration the CN-E30-300mm T2.95-3.7L S/ L SP zoom lenses employ anomalous dispersion (AD) glass. When light passes through a lens, it refracts (bends). It also breaks up into its constituent colours, just like light passing through a prism. The lower the refractive index of the lens material, the less it bends and the sharper it can be focused. Similarly, the lower the dispersion ratio, the less the light is broken up, which makes it easier to correct chromatic aberration.

AD glass is similar to fluorite in that it features a low refractive index and low dispersion. Using AD glass Canon has been able to manufacture lenses with superior performance at a lower cost.
